Oregon University's main campus is located 12 miles south of Medford in
sunny Ashland on a beautiful 175-acre campus.
SOU also offers lower-division, upper-division and graduate courses for
both full and part-time students at its Medford campus in downtown Medford.
Southern Oregon University combines quality education with a spectacular
location. Surrounded by rugged mountains, rivers and lakes, it is home to 5,500
students from around the world. SOU,
a four-year university specializing in liberal arts, sciences and select
graduate and professional programs, offers 100 areas of study including 35
majors in the schools of arts and letters, sciences, social sciences and
business. SOU specializes in
individual attention offering small class sizes, a 17 to 1 student:professor

- Rogue
Community College, which serves both Jackson and Josephine Counties, has a
main campus in Grants Pass, and in Medford, the Riverside
Campus, an eight-building complex in downtown Medford that houses classrooms,
labs, student and library services, and a student center. The
community college offers lower-division academic courses, culminating in the
associate of arts degree and vocational training. The
college serves an average of 2,500 full-time students each year.
RCC offers extension courses and customized training programs for
businesses, agencies and industries.

- I-5 and Regional Hwy Linkages
The Rogue Valley is approximately
midway between Portland and San Francisco. The Region is the industrial,
retail, and service center of Southern Oregon and Northern California. The
Region's two major cities, Medford in Jackson County and Grants Pass in
Josephine County, are both located on Oregon's primary North-South route, Interstate
5. This central location provides ready access to highway linkages
to the Oregon coast via Hwy 199 and to eastern Oregon via Hwy
62 and Hwy 140.

Central Oregon and Pacific
Railroad provides rail
service connecting the Rogue Valley north to Eugene, Oregon and south to
California. The following west coast port cities are served directly by the CO&P
and Southern Pacific Railroads:

The Rogue Valley is a major
commercial Motor Freight transportation hub. Over 30 Interstate and

Interstate and Regional bus service
is provided by Greyhound Bus Lines. Rogue Transportation
provides local public transport in Medford by the Rogue Valley
Transportation District and in Grants Pass. Rogue Transportation provides
intercity shuttles.

- Air Service
- The
Rogue Valley International Airport
located in Medford, recently received its international designation with its
status as a Foreign Trade Zone. This facility provides a full range of
commercial air services. Direct passenger service is provided by United
Airlines, United Shuttle, and Alaska/Horizon with 22 direct flights to
Portland and Seattle WA and non stop flights daily to Los Angeles and San
Francisco

- H & S Packing, Federal Express,
United Parcel Service, Airborne Express, Pony Express, United Couriers and
US Mail Contractors provide direct airfreight services.

- The Rogue Valley International Airport
is a recent Foreign Trade Zone. Like foreign-trade zones
elsewhere, the Rogue Valley zone is a legally secured area considered
outside the United States for customs entry procedures, duties, and quotas.
Imports are admitted to a FTZ duty-free facility to be stored, processed,
manufactured, distributed, exhibited, or inspected. Imports may be combined
with other foreign or domestic products.

- The Zone is a new international port of
entry. The new air cargo and cold storage warehouse is the largest one
available at an airport between Los Angeles and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Customs and Immigration services are in place and operational. An
agricultural quarantine and inspection center was placed on-line in 1996.

- Commercial and industrial sites are
available within the zone for firms engaging in international operations.
The Zone includes properties in both Jackson and Josephine counties.

- In 2002, the Rogue Valley International
Airport served over 460,000
passengers.
